Short term 90 minute visitor parking is available in designated spaces across from the building entry off Drydock Avenue. Located on the 2nd floor, you'll find a relaxing space for client meetings. Boston Design Center maintains an automated visitor parking lot off of Drydock Avenue adjacent to the BDC. Payment for parking by credit only is collected at the lot exit gate.
The eight-story Innovation and Design Building (IDB) complex was constructed on the Commonwealth Flats by the U.S. Department of Defense in 1918, and it originally served as a waterside storehouse for the South Boston Army Base. In its heyday during World War II, 50,000 people worked around the clock at the South Boston Army Base and neighboring South Boston Naval Annex repairing and overhauling American ships and warehousing and distributing a wide range of military goods and supplies. The Boston Design Center, located in the booming Seaport District, is home to 87 showrooms featuring products for contract and residential interiors. Our team provided design, bidding and construction administration services for the replacement of over 100,000 SF of roofing at the BDC. The project included removal of existing EPDM and BUR roofing down to the concrete deck, and installation of a new insulated EPDM membrane system.
